Baking Day

I don't bake. Not really. The one time I tried, it didn't go well, and I decided the kitchen and I had a mutual understanding: I stay out, it stays intact.

But somehow, I ended up spending an entire afternoon at the oven anyway.

This is how the Bakery Treats Button Set started. I wanted to draw things that felt warm and familiar, the kind of food you see in a bakery window and smile at even if you don't buy anything. A pretzel. A chocolate chip cookie. A pink donut. A cupcake with a strawberry on top. A little pastry with teeth, because why not.

I drew each one by hand, cut them out, and put them in the oven. Not to eat. Never to eat. Just to watch them shrink down into something small and solid and, hopefully, worth keeping.

That is what baking looks like at Overshrink. No flour, no butter, no recipe. Just shrink plastic, a steady hand, and a lot of watching through the oven door.

The Bakery Treats Button Set is now available at overshrink.com.
